But, while he once claimed was about burden-sharing, the new claim is that a decadent Europe is fundamentally unworthy due to its embrace of multiculturalism.

Trump proclaims Europe to be weak, and in exposing the rifts between the transatlantic alliance, he inadvertently aids Putin by actively undermining European unity—all while denying any responsibility.

As European nations draw closer to Kyiv facing continuing warnings of American abandonment, the peril is that Trump has rationalized a rationale for ignoring European leaders.

These developments requires a robust reaction from European leadership. While some figures, such as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, have been blunt in their pushback, including British officials—have opted for a policy of attempting to appease the White House.

On Tuesday, the UK government declined to criticize Trump's comments about Europe or his latest criticism on the mayor of London.
