Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a former physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
