That Gruesome Cartoon Film Ending That Stays With Fans

Out of all the adult-oriented animated films I’ve ever viewed, nothing has stuck with me quite like the terror-laced ending of the graphically gory and overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, this Spain-based filmmaker created a grim, bleak and often savage world with several minor , forlorn twinges of hope.

While Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from a desire to push the medium even more, the director explained that it was actually a try to convey a global, multicultural theme regarding “the shared root of all wars.”

This theme is communicated by means of a squad of colorful pastel bears , obviously inspired by a famous line of lovable figures.

Being raised in a culture focused on warmongering as well as the military-industrial complex, a lot of these creatures are fixated on slaughtering the mythical beasts, due to a sacred text that tells them they previously were masters of the woodland, before the horned beings forced them out.

Some did not entirely fallen for the propaganda, and would rather sample narcotics or engage sexually in the forest.

Unlike their cuddly counterparts, these bright beings show genitals , definite libidos.

For one especially vicious, pessimistic creature, Bluey, the battle against the unicorns turns into a path to power — and specifically to dominance over his gentler, more compassionate sibling Tubby.

The character acts as a tormentor and an apparent sociopath , and when horror overcomes his squad and kills his comrades one by one, he grabs progressively power personally, via progressively violent, destructive ways.

Simultaneously, the unicorns are enduring their own horror, as a growing, deadly beast in their habitat.

“Initially, it appears as a comedy,” the filmmaker said. “However it turns into a more intense and sad movie. And by the end, it becomes a horror film.”

Unicorn Wars commences similar to among the quirky features from a renowned animator, that discover a wicked pleasure in allowing animated figures swear, fire weapons, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it becomes more akin to a darker movie from that director, with increasingly graphic violence and a palpable relation to the real tragedy of battle.

In the finale, it becomes an outright Grand Guignol carnage.

The fear that makes this an ideal spooky-season watch begins a lot earlier than indicated.

Unicorn Wars is ideal for the hardcore gorehounds, for lovers of intense movies who wish to view a film they have not seen on-screen before, and who can handle a narrative which delivers no restraint.

View it in a dimly lit space with no disturbances, and the conclusion will burrow under your skin and take up residence there.
