The former Liverpool manager states a return to lead Liverpool is conceivable.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-season tenure which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown for three decades, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
Liverpool won the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I stated I will never coach another team on English soil. Therefore in case it's my former club...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“I’m 58, that means I could make the decision later on, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Questioned regarding which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be under bad weather for lengthy sessions; No need for press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties weekly.
“The locker room isn't missed in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, I appreciate that. Success was frequent so there was often positive atmosphere in the building. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments that took the title last term. Liverpool have lost four in a row in every contest after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the idea it could be a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built balanced team. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and its impact at the club. The forward was killed in a road accident together with his sibling in July.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the team environment absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A profound tragedy for his teammates also. Not a single person would cite it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Coping with it individually is not easy. Impossible.”
